Liz: What's happening? Edward Rastussen: All of them disappeared. Even Samuel. Even Dyer. What does that house do to them? Liz Meaney: What happened to my brother? Edward: I don't know. I can't even guess.Edward: It's like that house...swallow them, somehow. When I was a kid, I saw The Haunting with Julie Christie--based on The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.

Edward: Scared me to death. Gave me nightmares? Any wonder I can't make myself go into Sphynx House? So I sent mercenaries in--to search for immortality--too afraid to--Edward: Face...the...danger. Ty: Okay. You're going to hold very still-- let me grab a few items--then you're going to drive back to Argosy. Alone. Edward: What of the others? Ty: As good as dead.

No, I haven't forgotten about Ty. Yes, he still has a part to play.

I remember seeing the black-and-white movie THE HAUNTING when I was young with my family. Julie Christie and the "fast" woman clutching each other in the bed (nothing sexual, they were scared to death) as something pounded on the hall outside---getting louder and louder, until it sounded like a wrecking ball...

Extremely scary, without showing a single thing...which made it even scarier.

Later I read the HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE by Shirley Jackson on which it was based. Not to be missed. Second only to the TURN OF THE SCREW as the greatest novel about ghosts in the English language. (Although there are a lot of very fine short stories. I'm particularly fond of M.R. James.)

Then I learned about the real Winchester House, on which it was based.

So I made my wife and son watch THE HAUNTING one day.

They yawned.

They didn't see what the big deal was.

Love them both to death, but how anyone can NOT be scared by that scene, baffles me.

Anyway...here's a house that is haunted---albeit by nothing...supernatural.

At THE CROSSOVERLORD and it's Webcomicsnation mirror site (and now, comicgenesis mirror site).... a page by Remus, showing how well Debbie and A.N.T. are getting along and surviving in the Smiling Man's prison.

So if you want to see Mindmistress four times a week---start reading The CROSSOVERLORD every Tuesday (and Thursday, for the next two months). I put up a new page showcasting the past logos that I create each week for the webcomicsnation site, at PAST LOGOS. Oh, and you might check out REALITEASE, to see which webcomics happen in Mindmistress' reality, among others. To say nothing of the regularly updating comics that are a part of Crossoverlord, like Dasien, A.N.T., and Lightbringer...(check out the links at the Crossoverlord site or my links page....you'll be glad you did. )

"Sparks Fly Upward" continues at FLICKERFLAME---as we see how Thunderous can be a real stick-in-the-mud.

FEATURED LINK : THE GREEN AVENGER ---finally updating again, to reader's delight.

If you want to know when I update---although I've been aiming for Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays...you can go to COMIC ALERT and sign up to see when Mindmistress...and many other webcomics...update.

Drop by the Forum when you can. Ask questions. Debate. Comment. Talk about good superheroics in general. Return to discuss an excellent webcomic or two. Find out the meaning of life. (Hey, it could happen...)

Vote in the lists above. Please? Spread the word in groups you frequent. And thanks for both. Oh, and remember if you vote on the Buzzcomix one, the first one, you will often get a glimpse of the next page...one panel of it, anyway..
