Illustrating a point: the Mindmist neoanimals, especially the neoparrots, are NOT reverent towards MM. Oh, they regard her as a patroness, but not a goddess or anything. They may owe their sentiency to her, but they feel free to disagree or to banter with her. Some build statues or images to her, but that's more because she's one of the only humans they can use as a live model.

Someone mentioned that Mindmistress speaks to Gus as an equal, earlier. Exactly. There's no point raising them to human-level sentiency if they don't have the right to disagree, to be treated with the same respect you'd accord a human. Same here. The neoparrots feel free to mock her, to talk back to her, no matter what she's done for them.

Also, they're part of the team, albeit a seldom-used one. They know of the Lorelei/Mindmistress duality, they often talk to Vicki, etc. In fact, their relationship to MM is very similar to Vicki's relation to MM.

I hope you caught the Tuesday installment of THE CROSSOVERLORD and it's Drunkduck mirror site (and now, comicgenesis mirror site). It has a splash page (in beautiful color despite having a color-blind artist), at least one guest star, and a glimpse of a very important character---beside Dead Debbie.
